The show is described as Nancy Seaman was an award-winning elementary schoolteacher from the Detroit suburbs who is accused of hacking and killing her husband Bob in May 2004, then trying to dispose of his body.

This case is a tale of two opposing narratives: one of a battered woman killing her abusive husband in self-defense, and another of premeditated murder. Petitioner’s husband, Robert Seaman,was discovered by police officers responding to a missing person report on May12, 2004. Mr.Seaman’s body was hidden in the trunk of Petitioner’s car, which was parked in the driveway of the couple’s home in Farmington Hills, Michigan.  Mr. Seaman had been struck on the head and neck with a hatchet at least sixteen times, slashed with a knife on the neck, stabbed at least twenty-one times, and struck on the forehead with an unidentified blunt object.

The show is described as Tracey Richter staged a fake home invasion in December 2001, in which she shot her 20-year-old neighbor, Dustin Wehde, to death in an effort to frame her ex for the crime..
