Status: Acquitted
The story of Lupita Acuna and her
ex-boyfriend, Jose Fiscal is the subject of Oxygen's Snapped show,
season 13, episode 1. Oxygen describes the show as: Lupita Acuna is
accused of arranging the stabbing death of her ex-boyfriend and
trying to set his corpse on fire in July 2010.
In 2011, appellant Guadalupe De Leon Acuña was tried for the murder of
Jose Guadalupe Fiscal and was acquitted by a jury. Two years later,
Acuña was tried for conspiring to commit the same murder. She was
convicted of the conspiracy offense, a second-degree felony, and was
sentenced to twenty years' imprisonment.
Lupita Acuna is acquitted at trial for murder and convicted later of conspiracy.

On appeal, Acuna was acquitted of the conspiracy charge basically due to double jeopardy. Here is a link to the appellate court's decision: https://caselaw.findlaw.com/tx-court-of-appeals/1727262.html.
