According to Tulsa World, "Erin Colleen Dukes was acquitted Friday of any criminal wrongdoing in the fatal shooting of her husband. It was the first time a Tulsa County jury has cleared a defendant in a homicide case in which the "battered woman syndrome" was an element of the trial defense.
Jurors deliberated for less than three hours before clearing Dukes of first-degree murder in the Oct. 14, 1997, shooting of Robert Lee Dukes at the couple's Tulsa residence."
