In Oxygen's Snapped, Season 4, episode 3 the story of her abusive husband Robert Lee Dukes and Erin Dukes, is shown. This happens in the state of Florida. Oxygen describes this show as: Erin Dukes, a corrections officer, shoots her abusive husband Robert Lee Dukes to death in October 1997..

Erin Dukes was acquitted.

According to Tulsa World, "Erin Colleen Dukes was acquitted Friday of any criminal wrongdoing in the fatal shooting of her husband. It was the first time a Tulsa County jury has cleared a defendant in a homicide case in which the "battered woman syndrome" was an element of the trial defense.
Jurors deliberated for less than three hours before clearing Dukes of first-degree murder in the Oct. 14, 1997, shooting of Robert Lee Dukes at the couple's Tulsa residence."
